SRINIVAS RAMANUJAN

 

22 december 1887-26 April 1920 was an Indian mathematician who lived during the british rule in Indian.Altough did not have any special training or guidance in mathematics,he made substantantial contribution in mathematical analylis, number  theory, infinity series, and continued fraction, including solution to mathematical problem consider to be unsolved .Ramanujan initial developed him own way of mathematical research in isolation.”He tried to interest he leading profession mathematician in his work,but failed in most of the parts.What he had to show them was so unfamiliar,and additionally presented in very unfamiliar way;they need not bother.

He wanted someone who can understand his work,in 1913 he began a postal partnership with English mathematician G.H Hardy at the University of Caambridge,England. He recognijed extraordinary work sent to him as s ample. Hardy arranged travel for ramanujan to Cambridge in his notes ramanujan produced ground breaking  theorem  including some Hardy stated  had(defeated him and his colleague).

During his sort life ramanujan compiled nearly 3900 results which are mostly identities and equation.In 1919, ill health suffering from hepapic amoebisiscompelled ramanujan retain to india where died in 1920 at the age of 32.

 

Ø In 1897, sir JJ Thomson discovered the electron during a study of cathode rays in his discharge tube experiment. Sir jj Thomson was born in Cheetham hill, Manchester on 18, 1856.he has got the noble prize in 1906 in physics. He died in 1940.in 1896 , Joseph john Thomson visited America to give lecture on the discharge of electricity through gases ion  he did the most brilliant work of his life –study of cathode rays which lead to the discovery of electron.Thomson also discovered a method of separating different kinds of atom and molecules by using the positive rays.Thomson had also received the knighthood in 1908 and the ich order of merit,the cople medal (1914).the franklin and cot medal,the mascart medal,the delton medal,the faraday medal.

Ø In 1886, Eugen Goldstein performed his experiment in crooke’s tubes in which a beam of ions were create. It led to discovery of proton. Goldstein was born on September 5, 1850 at Poland . He died on December 25 , 1930 in Berlin.He had completed his education under Helmholtz in Berlin latter on he worked at berlin till 1890.In1886 he discovered perforated tube and during his investigation of discharge tubes he clarified that some rays moving opposite direction of cathode rays and he has named that as rays.

Ø Albert Einstein was born 14 march 1879 and he died on 18 april 1955 he received the noble prize 1921 in physics for his (services to theoretical physics) in particular his discovery of the( law of the photoelectric effect ) .He developed the general theory of relativity.Eintein work also know as for its influence on the philosophy of science.He had given the formula that was (e=mc square)

Ø Ernest Rutherford was born in 30^th august  1871 in New Zealand his starting education had done in govt. school and at age of 16 he joined nelson collegiate school for further eduction . His investigstion of scattring of alpha partiles and the nature of inner sctructure of atomwhich cause scattring of alpha particles.Scholarship and he proceed to the universities his first research was magnetic property exposs to high frequency oscillation. He has awarded the knight hood in 1940 and died on oct 19 1937 in Cambridge. He was buried near the tomb of the sir issac newton .His greatest contribution in physics was the concept of nucleus.He had also awarded  from so many medals like the albert medal and for discovery of nuclus.

Ø Neil Bohr was born in Copenhagen in 1885.After matriculation at gammelholm grammar school in 1903.He entered Copenhagen university and from there he his master degree in physics in 1909.By developing the concept of complemetality he clarified the problem in quantum physics. In 1916 he appointed in cophenhagen university as the professor.University has awarded him with the nobel in 1922 for his work on the structure of atom,Bohr died in 1962.
